Persto is built by one person, so you reach the developer directly rather than a queue. Expect a reply within a couple of days. Say which iPhone or Apple Watch you are on and which version of iOS or watchOS, and it will be faster.
Everything below describes the current iPhone and Apple Watch build. Public App Store availability will be announced when ready.
Try this first.
A Health card is empty, or readiness will not judge
Health never tells an app which readings it was allowed. A card with nothing in it can mean Health holds none of that reading, or that Persto was not given it, and Persto cannot tell those apart. Open the Health app, then Sharing, then Apps, then Persto, and switch on what you want read.
Tapping Connect Health a second time shows nothing, because iOS presents that sheet once. The Health app is the only place to change your answer afterwards.
Readiness needs sleep, resting heart rate or heart rate variability, and those come from an Apple Watch or another app that writes them into Health. A phone on its own does not produce them. A personal baseline also needs seven days of a signal before Persto will trust it.
Finished sessions are not reaching Apple Health
Reading and saving are separate permissions. Saving is the one Health reports honestly, so the Health tab tells you which it is. If saving is off, turn it on in the Health app under Sharing, Apps, Persto.
Sessions you finish are kept in Persto either way. Only the copy in Health is missing.
The Apple Watch app is not showing today's plan
Open You on the iPhone and read the Apple Watch card. It names which of three things is true: no watch paired, Persto not installed on the watch, or the watch simply out of range.
If Persto is not on the watch, install it from the Watch app on your iPhone. Then open Persto on the iPhone once with the watch nearby, and today's plan, readiness and chain are carried across.
Out of range is not a fault. The watch keeps its own record, so anything you do on the wrist is held and syncs when it reconnects.
A session I finished is missing
Open Persto on the iPhone with the watch nearby. A session finished on the wrist is held on the watch until the phone confirms it has a copy.
If the workout reached Apple Health but not Persto, opening the app on the iPhone reads it back out of Health and records that day. That pass needs workout read access, and it stands aside while the iPhone is in Low Power Mode or running warm, then runs the next time you open the app.
Nothing is invented. A session that ended early is recorded as work that happened, not as a plan you finished.
Restoring Persto Plus after a reinstall or on a new iPhone
Plus belongs to the Apple Account that bought it, and the entitlement usually arrives on its own. If it does not, open You, tap Persto Plus, then What Plus is, then Restore purchases.
That asks the App Store, not us. If it finds nothing, the subscription is on a different Apple Account. We cannot see, grant or move it.
Cancelling Persto Plus
Cancel it where every other subscription lives: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On the web it is apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Persto cannot cancel, refund or change a subscription, and does not put a step in front of it.
Cancelling leaves Plus running to the end of the period you already paid for. Everything you logged stays yours, and exporting or restoring your own data is free whether or not you subscribe.
Moving to a new iPhone
Open Persto on both phones. On the old one: You, then the iCloud card, then Send to another iPhone, which shows a one-time 16-character code. On the new one: on the first setup screen tap Bring my data from another iPhone and type that code. Both phones request available device authentication first.
Everything crosses, including your profile, training history, logged sets and readiness log. It goes phone to phone over the local network. Nothing is written to a file and nothing goes to a server.
Allow the local network prompt on both phones and keep them on the same network. If the other phone never appears, that permission is the usual cause: Settings, Persto, Local Network.
If the old iPhone is signed in to Persto with Apple, sign in on the new one with the same Apple ID before typing the code, because data sent from a signed-in phone only opens on a matching account. The sign in button is on the transfer screen itself.
If the two phones are not in the same room, use Create an offline encrypted backup on the old one and Restore from a file instead on the new one. Both are free.
Saving, restoring or deleting preferences in iCloud
Open You, then the iCloud card. Save preferences to iCloud, Restore preferences from iCloud and Delete saved preferences from iCloud are manual, free actions. Persto does not automatically sync setup changes.
The encrypted copy contains only your display name and chosen coach voice. It excludes training level, split, place, equipment, schedule, goals, workout length, wake settings, Health readings, body measurements, allergies, readiness readings, training history and logged sets. Use the full encrypted export or direct transfer when you need to move those excluded categories.
Deleting the saved setup in Persto removes its encrypted iCloud value, its separate key and any legacy Persto beta record. It does not change the setup already saved on this iPhone.
I forgot my export passphrase
Then the file cannot be opened, by you or by us. The passphrase never leaves your device and is stored nowhere, so there is no recovery path and no way for us to read your file. The data on the phone itself is unaffected.
Getting your data out, or deleting it
You, then the iCloud card, then Create an offline encrypted backup. You choose where the file goes. Restoring is free and stays free, either from that file or from the first setup screen after a reinstall.
To delete: signing out under You, Account removes the identifier Apple issued for Persto. Deleting the app removes everything Persto stored locally on this iPhone, including your profile, training history, readiness log and anything the coach remembers. Workouts already written to Apple Health remain there unless you remove them in Health. A setup copy you saved to iCloud also remains until you use Delete saved preferences from iCloud.
The account deletion page spells out what goes and what stays.
What makes a bug report useful.
There is no analytics or crash reporting SDK in Persto, by design. That means nothing reaches the developer unless you send it.
- ✓Your iPhone or Apple Watch model, the iOS or watchOS version, and whether it happened on the phone app, the watch app, or both.
- ✓What you tapped, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot beats a paragraph.
- ✓Whether it happens every time or only sometimes.
- ✗Please do not send health records, photos of documents, or anything you would not want in an email inbox. Nothing about a bug report needs them.
If you have a medical concern, contact a doctor rather than an app developer. Persto is not a medical device and cannot advise you on symptoms.
Reaching a person.
Email is read and answered by the person who wrote the app. The phone reaches the same small company, so email is usually faster.
