Delete your account and your data
1.The three things that exist
Between them, these are everything Persto holds. Each has its own section.
- The app's storage on your device. Your profile, allergies, readiness log, training history, logged sets, saved coach conversations and everything the coach remembers. This is all of it. Nothing is uploaded.
- An optional Sign in with Apple identifier. Only if you signed in, and only on the device.
- Optional encrypted iCloud setup. Only if you manually saved a copy. It lives in your Apple account, not on infrastructure operated by us.
The app contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting SDKs, so there is no hidden reporting profile sitting somewhere you cannot see.
2.Delete local app data
Deleting Persto removes its private local storage from that iPhone. There is no server-side fitness-data copy to ask us about afterwards. It does not remove workouts already written to Apple Health, an encrypted export you saved elsewhere, or a setup copy you manually saved to iCloud.
- Touch and hold the Persto icon, choose Remove App, then Delete App.
- Or open Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Persto → Delete App.
The Apple Watch app is installed alongside the iPhone app and is removed with it.
Local deletion is permanent, and Persto keeps no server copy you could ask for later. If you want to keep your history first, use the encrypted export on the You screen before you delete. The export is free and does not require Persto Plus.
Being straight about a limit: the shipping app has no single button that erases everything and leaves the app installed. Deleting the app is the way to do that. There is a narrower control under You, in the card headed What the coach remembers, where Forget everything clears what the coach was told and leaves your profile, training history and saved conversations alone.
3.Stop using Sign in with Apple
Signing in is optional and nothing in the app requires it. If you did sign in, Persto holds the app-specific identifier Apple issued, on the device and nowhere else. It asks Apple for no email address and no name, so it never receives either. It is used for one thing: when you hand your data to another iPhone, both phones check that they belong to the same Apple Account, so a stranger's phone cannot accept the transfer.
- In the app: You → Account → Sign out. That removes the identifier from the phone. There is no account-backend row to delete.
- From iOS: Settings → your name → Sign in with Apple → Persto → Stop Using Apple ID. Persto re-checks the credential when it opens and signs you out by itself once you have done that.
- Deleting the app removes the identifier as well.
4.Remove a manually saved iCloud setup
Manual iCloud setup save, restore and deletion are free. Persto does not automatically sync setup changes. When you tap Save preferences to iCloud, Persto seals one preferences payload with AES-256-GCM before writing it to your iCloud key-value store. The separate random key is kept in your synchronizable iCloud Keychain. Both belong to your Apple account, not to infrastructure operated by us.
The payload contains only the display name you use in Persto and your chosen coach voice. It contains no training level, split, place, equipment, schedule, goals, workout length, wake settings, Health readings, body measurements, allergies, readiness readings, training history or exercise log. Those categories are excluded by name in the code and covered by tests.
- Remove the stored setup: open You → iCloud, tap Delete saved preferences from iCloud, and confirm. Persto removes the encrypted preferences value, its separate key and any legacy Persto beta record.
- Deleting the iCloud copy does not change the setup already stored on this iPhone. Deleting the app does not remove the iCloud copy, so use this control before uninstalling if you want both copies gone.
5.Workouts written to Apple Health
When you allow it, Persto writes completed workouts to Apple Health, and the Apple Watch app writes the route, active energy and distance of an outdoor session. Those belong to Health, not to Persto, so deleting the app does not remove them.
In the Health app, open your profile, then Apps and Services, then Persto. From there you can revoke each permission individually and delete the data Persto wrote.
6.The only things we do hold
Both come from this website, never from the app.
- The early access list. If you submitted your email address through the early access form, we hold that address and the date you sent it.
- Bug reports. If you used the feedback form, we hold what you typed, plus anything optional you added: an email address, a device model and an app version. Reports are filed as tickets in a private issue tracker hosted by GitHub.
To have either removed, email support@perstofitness.com from the address you used. We will confirm within 7 days and complete the removal within 30 days. We may need to check that the request comes from the person who sent the original message, because acting on an unverified deletion request would itself be a way to harm somebody.
7.Retention
Once that is done, nothing identifying you remains on our infrastructure. We keep no shadow copy and no "deleted" flag against your old address.
Website request logs may briefly contain metadata such as timestamps and error messages. They are not linked to your identity, are never used to reconstruct anything, and age out on their own.
